Upholding Excellence, Ethics, and Integrity in Human Resources Practice

As a member of the Institute of Advanced Human Resources Practices (IAHRP), all professionals, fellows, partners, and associates are expected to uphold the highest standards of ethical behavior, professionalism, and accountability in their personal conduct, workplace actions, and contribution to the HR profession.

This Code of Conduct outlines the principles and expectations that guide the behavior of IAHRP members at all levels.


1. Professional Integrity

  • Always act honestly, transparently, and ethically in all HR practices.

  • Avoid any form of corruption, fraud, misrepresentation, or unethical behavior.

  • Uphold the reputation and credibility of IAHRP and the HR profession at all times.


2. Confidentiality and Data Protection

  • Respect the confidentiality of employee, employer, and client information.

  • Ensure all personal and organizational data is managed with care and in compliance with data protection laws.

  • Refrain from using privileged information for personal or professional gain.


3. Fairness, Equity & Non-Discrimination

  • Promote diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity in all HR policies and actions.

  • Treat all individuals with dignity, respect, and fairness regardless of race, gender, religion, age, disability, or background.

  • Actively prevent bias, discrimination, harassment, and bullying in the workplace.


4. Professional Competence & Continuous Learning

  • Maintain and develop your professional knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Participate in continuing education, certifications, and professional development.

  • Stay informed about emerging HR practices, legislation, and global standards.


5. Accountability and Responsibility

  • Take ownership of your actions and decisions, especially those that impact people and organizations.

  • Seek guidance when faced with ethical dilemmas or unclear situations.

  • Report violations of this Code or unethical practices within your organization or professional space.


6. Conflict of Interest

  • Avoid situations where personal, financial, or other interests conflict with professional duties.

  • Disclose any potential or perceived conflicts of interest immediately.

  • Do not accept gifts, favors, or advantages that could compromise professional judgment.


7. Respect for Laws and Regulations

  • Comply with all applicable labor laws, employment standards, and HR regulations in your jurisdiction.

  • Promote legal compliance and ethical behavior within your organization.

  • Do not participate in or condone practices that violate the law or professional standards.


8. Representation of IAHRP

  • Use IAHRP membership, titles, or certifications only as authorized.

  • Refrain from misrepresenting your affiliation, role, or standing within the institute.

  • Act as a positive ambassador of IAHRP and contribute to its mission and vision.


9. Commitment to People and Organizational Success

  • Make decisions that balance organizational goals with employee well-being.

  • Champion people-first practices and create value through human capital development.

  • Actively contribute to building ethical, healthy, and high-performing work environments.

Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action by IAHRP, which may include:

  • Warning or formal reprimand

  • Suspension of membership or certification

  • Revocation of membership or certification

  • Referral to appropriate legal or professional bodies

All IAHRP members are required to acknowledge and commit to this Code of Conduct upon registration, renewal, or certification.
